Trip Planning

How do I create a new trip?

Once signed in, click the 'New Trip' button on your dashboard. You'll be guided through setting up dates, destinations, accommodations, and inviting members to join.

How do I join a friend's trip?

Ask the trip host for their unique trip code. Enter this code in the 'Join a Trip' section on your dashboard after signing in, or use the invite link they sent you.

How does date voting work?

The trip host creates date options, and all members can vote on their preferred dates. The dates with the most votes are typically chosen, though hosts have final say in the voting settings.

Expenses & Splitting

How do I add an expense?

Navigate to the Expenses tab in your trip. Click 'Add Expense' and fill in the amount, description, and who paid. You can split the cost equally among all members or choose custom amounts.

Can I split expenses unequally?

Yes! When adding an expense, choose 'Custom Amounts' to specify exactly how much each person owes. This is useful when someone orders expensive drinks or opts out of certain activities.

What currencies are supported?

SLYCE supports multiple currencies for tracking expenses. You can add expenses in any currency, and the system will help calculate settlements. The final settlement shows the optimal way to transfer money between members.

Payment Methods

How do I add my payment information?

Go to your Profile settings and scroll to 'Payment Methods'. You can add multiple payment options including PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, bank transfer, or other methods. Your payment info is only shared with trip members when settling expenses.

Can I have multiple payment methods?

Yes! You can add as many payment methods as you like. This is useful if you use different services for different people or want to give others options for paying you.

Who can see my payment information?

Your payment methods are only visible to members of trips you're part of. They cannot be seen by users outside your trips. You can archive or remove payment methods at any time.

Settlement & Payment

How do I pay someone I owe?

Go to the Expenses tab and click 'Settle Up'. You'll see a list of who you owe and for how much. Select one of their payment methods and mark the payment as complete. Upload a screenshot as proof of payment.

Do I need to upload proof of payment?

While not required, uploading a payment screenshot is recommended. This helps avoid disputes and makes it clear when you've sent money. The person you paid can confirm receipt to close out the settlement.

What if there's a dispute about payment?

If you believe a payment was made but not received, or if there's a discrepancy, communicate directly with the other person through your trip. SLYCE provides payment tracking to help resolve these situations.

Liability & Responsibility

What is SLYCE's role in payments?

SLYCE is a planning and tracking tool. We help calculate who owes what and display payment information, but we don't process, hold, or guarantee any payments between users.

Who is responsible for actual payments?

Users are responsible for sending and receiving payments directly. SLYCE is not responsible for failed payments, incorrect payment details, or disputes between users. Always verify payment details before sending money.
